Meet Jenny

 

I’m Jenny and I live in Northern California. I believe that finding and creating stillness is foundational to life.

I am learning to respect the daily quiet and stillness that my soul needs in order to be more present and real in my work, my family and my community.

I write here to help you find more stillness, too.

I’ve been at WritingJen  for over six years, sharing my pictures, personal stories and life lessons. If you find yourself on a rainy afternoon or a quiet evening wandering through the archives, you’ll find pieces of a woman who writes to help herself understand faith, mercy, creativity, stillness and life a little bit better.

This is the space where all my books were born, too.

When people meet me in real life, they are surprised at my personality. I’m a quiet, introspective writer who laughs often and loud and I cringe at small talk. Technically I’m an introvert but from the outside, you wouldn’t guess it at all when you meet me.

Spending an early Saturday morning in Peet’s Coffee in deep conversation with a good friend and a good cup of coffee, makes me smile. That’s me in a nut-shell.

So far, I’ve written one book with two more books swimming around in my head. Very soon, I hope to have them written on paper for you to enjoy.

A FEW FUN THINGS I WANT YOU TO KNOW ABOUT ME:

*Tuesday is my favorite day of the week.

*I love ice cream so much and chocolate is my favorite flavor.

*In my free-time, I love to head out on a drive to the country to visit my great-grandparent’s farm. The country holds my heart.

*Volcano, CA is the place I run to when I need a day of stillness and solitude. Volcano holds a special piece of my heart.

*Instagram is my favorite social media site.

*I have completed two 5k events and I am training to do my third this year.

*I love anything and everything about the Old West. I love history. I love the clothing, the lifestyle and the tradition. If I could time-travel, I would go back to the Old West for a week as long as I was guaranteed to be able to come back to present day.

SPEAKING:

I am curious about the mystery of Christ. Everything I write and speak about stems from a longing and reality that every need and desire can only be filled through the person of Jesus Christ.

I am first and foremost a writer but with a realization that I am a writer and speaker intertwined. This has come as a surprise to me but I’m learning to embrace both roles slowly.

I come alive when I have the opportunity to serve and interact with other writers, dreamers, artists, introverts, bench-sitters and recovering perfectionists.
